As
young people we think we are so strong. Strong enough to
handle anything
and everything. Brothers and Sisters drug usage and drug
addiction has nothing to do with strength but is a great
testament to one’s weakness. I can’t understand
why one would begin to use anything that would harm us and
our bodies. But people, when you want to take that pill,
smoke that weed, snort that crack PLEASE realize that this
is so much bigger than you. Our people are destined for greatness
and we take that bait that white America feeds us and we
run with it. Look inside yourself and see what God has given
us. He’s given us strength, power, endurance, courage,
soul, love… I could go on for hours talking about the
gifts of our people. Don’t throw it away for a minute,
an hour, or even a day of pleasure. It’s not worth
losing yourself, trust me I’ve seen it happen to people.
Once you’ve lost it, it being your friends, family,
future, home and everything important to you. The likelihood
of you getting it back is slim to none.
If
depression motivates you to drugs, find a way out, find a support
system, someone to talk to in your time of need. If it’s
peer pressure and you’re trying to fit in you need to look
at yourself and identify why you aren’t comfortable enough
with yourself to go against the grain. Find new friends and if
necessary just be comfortable in being alone.
And parents, you know that when we get down to the nitty gritty, if we had parents
involved in our lives all the time. Parents who showed us unconditional love
at all times and stood by us through whatever, then I truly do not believe this
would be as urgent a problem as it is. Where are you when your kids are out getting
high and misbehaving? We need you! Please don’t wait until its too late.
Get involved now, if you messed up, fix it. It’s never too early or too
late to talk about these things.
We’ve all hear and read that the sins of the father lives on for generations
to come, so parents if you are the drug user in your home and your environment
take a look back and see what you are doing to your kids, your family, once again
our future is in your hands.
